Mary McCarthy

Mary what a sweet woman. She bustled around her lovely cottage garden with the wee doggies. So friendly, her and Barry Bothers Stores are part of old village Ireland passing away. I remember her fondly from years ago. RIP Mary. Sofia Wright, East Cork

I would just like to add my condolences to Mary’s family. I only heard of her passing yesterday. I used to chat to her at the gate when I went out walking during the week. I’m so sorry to hear this news. She was a lovely lady and loved to hear any news…end of an era. May she rest in peace🙏🏻💕🙏🏻

wanted to send my condolences , so sorry to have missed Mary's funeral but only saw the notice today, My Father was Kevin Geraghty from Glanmire and I would have known Mary all my life as i remember her looking after my Grandmother (Ann Geraghty) when I was a child.
Over the years I would have ran into Mary on a regular basis whether it was in Barry's shop or on church hill walking her dogs.
Another great character gone from an ever changing village ,

I’m very sorry and sad to hear of lovely Mary’s death. I got to know her over the years on my walks returning back up Church Hill. She always waved to me from her window and often at the gate with her dogs to have a chat with me. I’ll miss her. My prayers and thoughts are with her family and her Neighbour Kathleen. Mary was a lovely person always a smile and a chat. I used to meet her early mornings as she opened the shop. And i have always remembered Mary was good for a laugh and good kind person who also loved her animals .. May she rest in peace..
