I’d like to express my heartfelt condolences to all of Catherine’s family. I only heard of her passing on Sunday when I saw the wonderful tribute on the Sunday Independent. I acted as External Examiner for Catherine when she worked in the RCSI and I just want to add my condolences as well as commenting on her kindness, generousity of spirit, fantastic intellect and her commitment to excellence. Her contribution to Health Services and education was exemplary and it was wonderful (while sad) to read Jonathan Drennan’s reflections on her work and character. Had I known of her passing, I would certainly have made every effort to mark her passing by attending her funeral. So in conclusion, my thoughts are with you but I’m confident her legacy and the sentiments expressed in her passing will offer you some comfort
