To Sr Teresa and Veronica and to the extended O'Connor family, I was very sorry to hear about the passing of Rev. Monsignor Al. May he rest in peace. I had the pleasure of visiting him many times in his parish in Sacramento when I worked in California and he was a gracious host and it was always a pleasure to meet him. He made a great contribution in the parishes in which he served and he was very well regarded by his community. He will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all who knew him. Leaba i measc na naomh go raibh ag Monsignor Albert.

Comhbhrón ó chroí libh.

I knew Monsignor O'Connor for only a few months and only as a fellow resident at Mercy McMahon Terrace. He was a gentle, quietly self-effacing man who always reached out to inform me when he had gotten news regarding a friend's extended hospital stay. I will not forget his sweet smile and his great kindness of heart.

We had the pleasure of visiting Al in Sacramento in January this year for the occasion of his 80th birthday.
While we were there he brought us to see the churches he and his colleagues had worked on, the Cathedral and Holy Spirit Church in Sacramento and the Community Centre and Church in Rancho Murieta.
We met his many friends, some of whom were ordained with him in All Hallows, Dublin. They will miss him as will we.
We are proud of the legacy he has left in a city where he was truly happy and valued by his community.
Al was a special person, kind and generous, and a great uncle to all his nieces and nephews.
We cherish happy memories of our recent time with him.
May he rest in peace with his parents Patrick and Catherine, his sisters, Dolly and Maura and his brothers Fr. Padraic and Sean.
Thinking of his sisters Veronica and Sr. Teresa at this very sad time for them.
