Hello Bert we are so sorry about poor Mary. We are related to your neighbour from the 1980s John O Sullivan.

Sorry Bert. The scouts did a lot of good work around the country I was on a two week camp in Portumna in 1987. There was a boy there who had a learning disability. That boy was homesick he wanted to go home after a half an hour.but they scout leader encouraged him to stayed and that boy stayed for a week at one small step at a time. He stayed for a week in camp. That boy went on to be able to hold down a job away from home. He was living independently the last I saw him. He could not have done it without the support of that scout leader.

Sorry for your troubles Bert . You were a scout leader for the 49th long ago.The scout kept lots of people away from the pubs and the off licences. They kept young fellows off the drugs too. I think that they should be made compulsory.
