Everyone I've ever taken to Fratton Park, I've told about Mick Kennedy. You are one of the favourite topics of conversation if we have a 'post-match' pint. I remember when they printed your face the day you signed for Pompey, and I hadn't heard of you! I remember you captaining Eire U21's at Fratton, and scoring 2 penalties against your mate Alan Knight!

But most of all I remember the tenacity with which you played the game, allied with an underrated amount of skill (there is *no way* Kevin Dillon could've done it single handed in the middle of the park, with *two* wingers!), as you drove a tough team, *all the way to the top*, and the third time of asking. I remember the sadness I felt (still a teenager) when you were sold to Bradford.

I remember an honest player, a "footballer's footballer" - who gave great service to many clubs - before and after ours - but I know in your heart you are a blue.

Rest well Mick - you will *never* be forgotten at Fratton. Thank you for giving this (then) teenage boy a tough 'hero' to look up to.

With the very best of wishes to all your family, friends, former teammates and fans.

Love Dave & Terri

RIP Mick
— Dave Carr
so sorry to hear about the passing of Mick Kennedy. Inspirational player and captain. He left everything on the pitch and never gave less than 100% or gave up one blade of grass without making the opposition earn it. His name brings a smile and a nod of respect and appreciation to all Pompey fans who had the privilege to see him play. The legend of Mick Kennedy is known by many many Pompey fans that were not so lucky. My sincere condolences to his family and thanks for lending him to us for a short while. He will always be remembered and celebrated in Portsmouth.
