Wonderful memories of learning the recorder at school in Trim in the 80s and 90s and then on to Balreask for classes on Saturday afternoons. Tommy taught me how to read music - I still have the notes - and what I learned from him has stayed with me to this day in my professional life as a musician all around the world. How lucky I was, like so many others in Meath, that our paths crossed and he shared his knowledge. May flights of angels sing him to his rest.

The musical legacy that Mr Boyle left on generations of (former!) young people in County Meath is one that will resonate always as it is passed on to new generations by Tommy Boyle taught musicians. I for one still only think in colours when seeing sheet music, such was the strength (and ingenuity) of his teaching! What wonderful memories of the vast Christmas concerts that I have no idea how he co-ordinated with such ease. We were all so delighted to wear our red Eroica red bows and of course get ready for the fist pump end to "Come and Join the Celebrations". Thank you for all of that, and rest in peace, Mr Boyle.

So sorry to hear of Tommy's passing. An old friend in music since we were 15 year olds.
