Michael Valentine (Val) Burke

McCall, Idaho and Palm Beach, Florida and fomerly Blindwell, Tuam, Galway

Michael Valentine Burke (Val), 91, of McCall Idaho and Palm Beach Florida, peacefully passed away on April 24, 2024 while surrounded by his wife, Michael (Seibert), daughter Shannon and dear friend Shelley. As some may say, the sun went down on Galway Bay this last Wednesday before May.

 

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 27, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in McCall Idaho with burial following at McCall Cemetery. Friends and family will gather at the Burke home in McCall after the service and burial. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church at PO Box 821, McCall, ID 83638.

 

Val was born in Blindwell, Tuam, County Galway, Ireland. He has gone to heaven to join his parents Thomas and Mary; his seven siblings: Jarlath, Joseph, Philomena, Sister Emmanuel (Madge) Todd, Liam, Eamon, Victoria Seibert Patterson and his son Desmond Michael Burke. He will be missed by many and is survived by his wife Michael, daughter Shannon, brother-in-law Bob Seibert and wife Joanne Seibert; Sisters-in-law Pauline Burke and Anna Maria Burke, several cousins, 40 nieces & nephews, 37 great nieces & nephews, and 12 great great nieces & nephews.

 

Michael and Val met in Washington DC in 1968, were married here in McCall in 1970. They lived in Connecticut, California, Virginia, Florida and Idaho. They lived in Virginia for over 50 years. Val worked in construction for many years and worked on many of the federal buildings in Washington, D.C. Later he started his own company and managed the renovation of many federal and private office buildings. In his 2nd retirement, Val built their home in the mountains of McCall.
