Hughie SMITH

Peacefully, in the tender and dedicated care of the staff of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, surrounded by his family. Predeceased by his beloved wife Geeka, daughter Elizabeth, Ma Ellen and Da Hamilton, sister Ellen and brothers John, Bernie and Willie. He will be sadly missed by his sorrowing sons and daughters Bernie, Hamilton, Louise, Hughie Jr., Dakess and John, grandchildren Niamh, John, Jessica, Elizabeth, Payton and Iryna Rose, brothers Money, Tommy, Robbie, Isaac and Christy, sisters Margaret, Becky and Nanny, son-in-law Tom, daughters-in -law Carmen, Ira and Mayen, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

At Rest

Due to current restrictions on numbers at funeral ceremonies, Hughie's Funeral Service will be celebrated in the presence of his family only on Saturday, August 21st, in St. Nicholas' Parish Church at 11am. Burial  afterwards in St. Patrick's Cemetery. 

There will be an opportunity for the community to show support and to remember Hughie by being present on the route, socially distanced, as the funeral cortege leaves his home at 10am, proceeding on foot to the Church via Bellewsbridge Road, Castletown Road, Bridge Street, Linenhall Street and Church Street. After the Service, the cortege will continue on foot to the cemetery.

To keep everyone safe, please continue to adhere to social distancing, wear a face covering and refrain from handshaking and hugging.
