The death has occurred of Alan SHIEL
Peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, after an illness borne with courage, dignity and humour. Will be hugely missed by his adoring wife, Helen; Sarah, Mikey and Eoin; Alison and Orna; his mother, Hazel; sisters, Cecily and Sylvia; and by the whole family circle and his many friends.
The family wishes to express its sincere thanks to all the staff of the Oncology and Radiation services of St. James' and St. Luke's Hospitals; all the staff of the Blackrock Hospice and their Home Care Team; the public Health and Community nurses and carers in Ballinteer; and, the Daffodil nurses. We will be forever grateful for the overwhelming prayerful and practical support of our friends and colleagues. A Funeral Service will be held in Dundrum Methodist Church on Wednesday (12 November) at 11.30am with cremation to follow in Mount Jerome Crematorium, Harold's Cross. Family flowers only please; donations, if desired, can be made to the Irish Cancer Society c/o Nichols Funeral Directors, Lombard Street East, Dublin 2.
