Alan was a wonderful colleague who would help anyone, always with a smile and a story. He had a talent for tiptoeing on that 'suitable for work' humour, and always had people laughing.

He idolised Michelle and always spoke about her with so much love and admiration especially after Lucas was born.

I was so shocked to hear of Alan's passing. I first met Alan in Department of Transport and subsequently through our interest in classic cars. Alan was always a breath of fresh air, always smiling, a light in the darkest of rooms.
