My sincere condolences to Ruth, Rachel and Gerard on the death of your mother Ann. I first met Ann when visiting my late uncle and aunt Michael & Rita Monaghan. Every aspect of your Mum was memorable. She was glamorous, ‘larger than life’ and the heart of Balbriggan.

My first time ever playing Adult golf for Balbriggan golf club was with Ann in a mixed match in Dundalk around 82/3. Within seconds she let me know who was boss, lol. We won the match and for the following 40 odd years when we often met we would sometimes chuckle about it.. I will always remember Ann with a smile. Ann was so kind and caring and always interested in everything and involved in so many things for what seems like forever. A legend has left the Balbriggan stage. My deepest condolences to Rachel, Ruth, Gerald and the wider family. May she rest in peace. Jeanne

Deepest sympathy on hearing of Ann passing. She was a neighbour when we had a shop in Drogheda St. and her daily visits always included a smile, a good chat and sorting out some of the affairs of the day ! Such a lovely vivacious lady.

So often I would meet Anne and Anne always asked, well, how are you, hows your parents, "what are you doing with yourself now, good woman, keep it up." To say knowing Ann Gallen was a pleasure is an understatement. A wonderful woman, an incredible mother, wife, grandmother, sister, friend and more. A true conversationalist Ann took keen interest in all her family and friends’ lives, and took immense joy when all was well, and gave compassion during times of need. Going to the Gallen household on Christmas Day became common place, not because we're friends with Gerald Jr., but more out of curiosity of where Ann and Gerald Sr. would be globetrotting too next. If Gerald Sr. wasn’t hang-gliding over mountainous terrain both he and Ann would be scheming their next adventure. Where next? Hawaii? A remarkable legacy. Ruth, Rachel and Gerald, Carol, Mark, Zoe, Sadie, Oliver, and Tommy, all our love to you and Ann’s extended family.
