I worked at Chase and Bank of Ireland until I went to New York in 1979. During my time at the bank I worked with some of the best people I have ever known. Tony was front and center, a very handsome, charismatic and kind human being, and always ready for a laugh and a good time. He was loved by everyone from the Top down to the porters and Julia in the canteen. He flirted outrageously, with all of us girls including The Doyler and we all loved it! He was the life and soul of every bank party, functions, weddings, birthdays, you name it! It was just fun to be around him! I always looked forward to meeting up in The Dawson or The Bankers Club when I was back in Dublin where Tony would hold court as usual. I imagine he kept that wonderful demeanor throughout his life and I'm sure he was a great Husband and Dad. I am very glad to have had the pleasure of knowing him. Sending my deepest sympathies to you all at this very sad time, Mags Moran.

Anthony's untimely loss to Anne, Joe, Elain and John is a huge shock. To each of his brothers and sisters it is the first breach in a wonderful family circle. For all of his friends going back beyond 60 years, it is the reopening of so many wonderful memories of time spent in his company, whether on a sports field, or the side of a pitch, or over a few pints, or in the world of banking. Anthony's good humour and welcome into his company was infectious and we will all miss him, immeasurably.

You've joined the angels Anthony. Keep an eye on us all.

Tony was a bright light that had an impact on everyone he came across. He always handed me a strong G&T upon arrival and had me laughing within seconds. From bragging about his garden to telling me (again) about his impressive sprinting record, he was the life and soul of the dinner table and always made me feel like a second daughter. I was lucky enough to spend many evenings listening to stories about his rugby career, his many travel adventures and endless hilarious anecdotes about Elaine, John & Joe, over a delicious home cooked meal (that he made sure I ate as much as possible of). His charisma, sharp wit and infectious joyful smile will forever be ingrained in my memory.

Today I’m raising an extra strong G&T to you Tony, thank you for welcoming me into your family. My heart is with you Anne, Elaine, John, Joe, Suzanne, Vic, Richard and all the grandbabies.
— Carolyn Murphy

I first met Tony 50 years ago when I worked in Chase Belfast and travelled to Dublin at the weekends to escape The Troubles in the North. I remember very well a good looking lad with a twinkle in his eye. From reading the messages left here, he never lost that twinkle. It is a few years since I have seen him but for those privileged to have been in his life the loss must be immeasurable and I extend my deepest condolences.

I have known Anthony for over 60 years since our days in A1 (or was it A2?) in Terenure College. Here in school Anthony developed his rugby and athletic skills to the highest levels. His qualities remained the same throughout his life namely good humour, great company and a roguish twinkle in the eye which endeared him to all he made contact with. Outstanding was his kindness in particular to those new to his circle of close friends.
I and the rest of his close friends “the lads” have memories of great outings with Anto both foreign-chez Mossie in Viella, rugby trips to Edinburgh, Cardiff and Rome (“Tom’s Tours”) and closer to home in particular in the rugby club both before during and after AIL matches. His great humour, craic and concern for others shone through. He will be greatly missed. Deepest sympathy to Anthony’s wife Anne, children Joe, John and Elaine his immediate family and his wide circle of friends.
— Pat and Noelle Jordan
