I came across the Sgt Major quite a few times whether at shooting competitions or in annual FCA camp.
He had great presence, which for a Sgt Major is an essential quality.
He was really nice man and very pleasant (even for us northern troops) to deal with.

I knew Barney from my days in the 21st Infantry FCA battalion; in the late 60's early 70's.
He had a kind, approachable,unassuming, friendly and gentle nature with a good sense of humour .
