As a student I had very few positive experiences in secondary school but I have incredibly fond memories of Mr. McSweeney.
He was one of those teachers who really cared, he really wanted to get to know his students and he wanted the best for them all.
I was very sad to bear this news but wanted to let his family know just what a huge impact Mr. McSweeney had on me.
With that in mind I can only imagine the impact he had on his own family.
May his family find strength in the knowledge that their husband/father really was one of the good ones and that even in fleeting moments he was an inspiration to many.
— Former Student

I grew up in Minor Row, 10 years younger than Brian. My abiding memories are going to Millstreet GAA Senior County Football matches when Millstreet were a serious footballing force with what we now know was a golden generation. At the time Brian was only a kid, compared to the established stars, but he outshone them all. Incredibly stylish, effortlessly composed & a freetaker par excellence. Mixed with that was an unflappable demeanour & completely unassuming, despite how talented he was. I can still see him, addressing the ball for a crucial free kick in Macroom GAA grounds with a crowd hushed to silence on the hill. RIP Kiddo. You were a legend. Condolences to all his family. Gone way too soon.
— Aodán McCaul, Sundays Well & originally Millstreet

Truly shocked and saddened to learn of the untimely passing of Brian, a classmate at Coláiste Pádraig, Millstreet and Millstreet Community School. Brian was extremely popular among his classmates, probably because of the way he wore the mantle of being the most outstanding, naturally gifted and elegant footballer with such grace and humility.
