Sincere condolences to Shane, Ann and the Seery and Harte families on the sad passing of dear Carmel. She and Leo were very special people, both with such generous "hearts." As children in Mounttown, we all looked forward to Carmel and Leo's visits.They brought fun and love to the Meehan children. Leo and Paddy Meehan were "two of a kind"!
Carmel was very supportive of me as a young girl in a household with five boys in rural Ireland. She was reared in Dublin and was quite the character. She loved the "craic" and was so bubbly. She spread fun and happy vibes wherever she went. I never saw her without her permanent warm smile. Carmel and her sister "Biddy" Keanny were first cousins of mum's and all three were very close.The Harte family were always very loyal and supportive of each other. Carmel and Leo became a couple and were blessed with their son Shane and "set up" home in Corkaghbeg Skreen in an idyllic setting. Tom and I had started our own family at this stage, I didn't see Carmel, Leo, and Shane as much as I would have liked to, but Mum kept me updated on life for the Seery family.
I found Leo's passing very sad, mainly because he was such a genuinely good person. I'm sure he and Carmel shall be reunited and have the "craic" now in a "heavenly place".
The above are my memories of cousin Carmel whom shall be sadly missed by all the Meehan family. She left me so many happy memories that I shall always treasure.

We are so saddened to hear of Carmel’s passing, she was one of life’s characters, walking to Corkhill won’t be the same, where we had many great chats with Carmel over the years. Her sister Marie was a lifelong friend of my mother May O’Byrne from Marino.
Unfortunately we are unable to attend the funeral. May Carmel’s gentle soul rest in peace.
