Luke was my friend through primary school, and one of the biggest reasons I have such happy memories of that time growing up. He was creative, he could always make us laugh, and he was always kind. My sympathies to all the family, may he rest in peace.
— Eoin Hurrell
So shocked when we heard your beautiful son and brother Luke had died. I have fond memories of Sean trying to track down a quirky item that he had requested. His memory will live on in your hearts. Forever young. Thinking especially of Sean, Sanja, Jess, Dylan and all of Luke's family at this difficult time.
— Olive Keyes & Gerry Dowling
So very sorry to hear of Luke’s passing. I knew Luke in NDNSP. I remember him as a very pleasant, lovely boy - and of course always accompanied by Danny. Over the years I became so very fond of him and enjoyed any encounters we had. Sincerest condolences to you all at this very sad and difficult time. May Luke Rest in Peace

A moment In Memoriam

The Call came, expected deep down, at one time or other.
When? Why? No justice from the sky!!
Some days before, your voice lifted by the anticipated meeting, once more in sunnier climes.
A free bird, tottering along your skew slanted ways, admirable in your self-comforted world.
Ours destroyed.
Dad
— Sean Benson
Luke was one of my best friends growing up and I'm still finding it very hard to believe he is gone. He was a special kind of weird, like all my favourite people, with a unique sense of humour and creativity. We started making films together when we were 11 - me, Luke and Danny - and I couldn't have found a more inspiring comedic duo to play with at that age. Laurel and Hardy had nothing on them. I was a shy, introverted kid and I feel like playing with them helped me come into my own and embrace my own weirdness; they were so unapologetically themselves. Later in secondary school, Luke and I also collaborated on things just between the two of us, and these are the times I remember the most when I think of him now. In art class, we made sculptures and drawings together, full of bizarre, colourful abstractions. In my garden, we even made some impromptu art installations - hanging chairs, clocks and radios from trees and filming them at night with torches! We never talked about what we were doing, never planned it, never decided what it meant. But somehow we were on the same page. I'm grateful for those times now. Sending all my love to Luke's loved ones at this difficult time.

It seems unreal to be writing a condolence note to you all about Luke's death, Jen, Donie, Jess, Naomi, and Keziah, Sean, Sanya and Dylan, and to Barbara who I've heard so much about, who looked after him so well. I've lots of memories of Luke & Danny - they came as a package - as friends of Donal's, going all the way back to primary school and the fun they got out of making films. They started while still in the NDNSP and carried on right up until they finished school in Mount Temple. Ní bheidh a leithead ann aris - Luke was one of a kind. May he rest in peace now.

I’m finding it very hard to find the right words to share about Luke as I’m sure you all are too. Other than to say I’m absolutely devastated and I’m thinking of you all. I’ve spent the last few days remembering my younger life with my best friend, Luke. Not a day went by without seeing each other back then. Such happy and care-free times, surrounded by his amazing family. I’ll cherish the memories and always keep Luke with me xxx
