I was deeply shocked to hear of David's death - a generous, thoughtful and kind soul I had the privilege of meeting in Luanda just a few months ago. From the whole team at the Irish Embassy in Lisbon, I'd like to send our heartfelt condolences to Mary and all David's family and loved ones. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

Every time we met David brought light, laughter (quite often at his expense), very decent conversation and a sense of joy of having been in his presence. Dara, Mary and Castello, thank you for sharing this wonderful man with us, and to you all, Cecilia, Lucia, Finn and Jacob we will keep you and him in our hearts always. I knew David as a lovely, thoughtful child. Mary kept me up to date with the very valuable work he was doing – skilled and committed. Many condolences to family, wider family and friends this is a tragic loss of a special person, now at peace in the garden of heaven.

I want to thank you Mano Benjamin and Mana Mary for sharing David with us, and raising such a righteous man. I’m glad to say my nephew David was a man who wanted equal opportunity for everyone and has touched lives of many people in the short time he was in this planet. As the holy written says: « In the way of righteousness is life; and in the pathway thereof there is no death » David has chosen the way of righteousness.
