DAVID McCARTHY

We were saddened to learn of David's sudden passing. Our father, Nicholas Hughes, always held David in high esteem and considered him to be a true gentleman. We wish to pass on our condolences to all the family.

We are so shocked and saddened to hear of our lovely neighbour Dave’s sudden passing. To Gerard, Colum and Ruairi and all the family we send our deepest sympathies. He will be so missed by us all in Ardmanning. He loved to have a chat, loved his garden, loved his family holidays and most of all loved his family. We’ll miss our chats over the wall Mr McCarthy. Both Dave and Marie were great neighbours all down through the years in Ardmanning. Another lovely person gone from the park. May Dave and Marie rest together in heavenly peace.

My late mother used to say that Dave McCarthy would go straight to heaven for his patience as he would wait for me to get out of bed, way to late, so that he could drop me to school with his own three great sons, Gerard, Colm & Rory in the 70’s. Over 40 years later I realise how right she was. I was lucky enough to know Mr McCarthy as a child and as an adult. I hold him in such high regard for how he always made time for me when I returned to the neighbourhood and how he kept an eye out for my elderly mother when she was on her own in later days. I also have great memories for his late wife Marie who was so kind to us all when we were young. My condolences to all who loved him. Denis.

I wish to pass on my sincerest condolences to all of you..Dave was one of the finest roofers i ever met, probably the first roofer i got to know when i joined Laydex over 20 years ago..i always enjoyed meeting up, calling for a cuppa...he was a truly lovely gentleman..may he rest in peace..thinking of you all at this sad time..
