Colin, Katie, Maria and Victor.
Your eulogies to your beloved Father were beautiful.
He was always beyond proud of each of you.
To the cherished grandchildren,
Oisin, Cormac, Rian, Acuisle, Conan, Aislinn and Fiachra…
Derry referred to the collective as his “Dynasty”
And always with that little giggle, you all made his soul smile.
To Bernie, thank you for your kindness and inclusion at this most sorrowful of times, I will be for ever thankful.
To Naoko, Johnny and Richie,
I am sorry for your loss.
And my special regrets to “The Brothers”
Paul, Damien and Mark.
And the entire extended family.

My dear Derry,
we did not share a long time, but surely a good time.
A fleeting beat of life.
But within time’s restrain, we managed to cut out some of the most beautiful moments of life.
Thank you for always being a safe place, a familiar nook, a cherished friend.
You have always remained a beautiful enigma to me, between your elusive turn of phrase, you good and gentle heart, your wandering old soul and you very good counsel.
Stay close and whisper gently at times when I may need your special gift of patience and your open minded view.
And I will always smile when I hear our song….

I was so saddened and shocked to hear of Derry's death. My deepest condolences to Katie, Colin, Victor, Maria and to all of Derry's relatives and his many friends.
I always remember him as a sensitive soul.
The funeral service was a beautiful tribute to him. He was so loved by everyone.

Our sincere condolences to Dermot’s family in Australia and at home in Ireland. We were so sorry to hear he had died and have just watched the lovely tribute to his full life and vibrant personality. You did him proud . We remember fun times in Saudi , Dermot's big easy smile and the twinkle in his eye. I don’t remember Dermot on Dromawling Rd as he was one of the big boys when I was little but was so glad to get to know him in Saudi. May he rest in eternal peace and may you all draw comfort from the great memories you have of Dermot. RIP.

Thanks so much to Colm, Katie, Victor & Maria. You justified your dads pride last night. So many memories of long chats, laughs and dances into the small hours with Dermot in Riyadh came flooding back. Dermot took everyone as he found them, never judged and lived a life true to himself. We’ve lost a great friend. RIP 💕

Just watched Derry's funeral from westport co mayo and well done to all, he would have loved it !

Truly didn't expect to lose him so soon but he would have been the first to agree "not a bad innings".

I was shocked and saddened to hear about the passing of my dearly beloved First Cousin, the one and only Derry Blackwell a few days ago, in Melbourne.

Terrible News for sure!

Therefore I wish to send my
condolence's on his sudden passing to Bernie and their children, Colin, Maria, Victor and Katie Blackwell.
Guys, thank you all for the wonderful and genuinely heartfelt personal tributes to your Dad today at his funeral service.

Also to Paul, Damien and Mark his brothers and to their families, my/our deepest sympathy to you all.

My deepest sympathies to the Blackwell family & Bernie on the sudden passing of my dear friend Dermot. Brian O Hora, Dermot and I worked & lived together in Riyadh. Dermot was a true friend, true Dub, proud Irish man, philosopher and free spirit. I will miss his early morning phone calls, he was always in great form. We debated the woes of the world. On his visits home and trips to Cork, I was delighted and privileged my wife & family got to meet and know Dermot. I know your spirit is free Dermot and will live on in those you have touched. Farewell my friend. I will raise a glass to you, slainte.
