All of Eddie’s classmates will greatly miss him and treasure fond memories of him from our student days long ago in the UCD Medical School in the 50’s and 60’s. Over the years he kept us all in touch and contributed greatly to our class reunions. He and Eileen were greatly missed at our 60th Reunion earlier this year, when we raised a glass to them both and to other dearly remembered classmates.
Eddie was a highly accomplished Consultant Anaesthetist, a compassionate and caring doctor, and was totally dedicated to those who benefited from his expert care. It was with great sadness we learned of his health difficulties this year. We extend our condolences and prayers to Eileen, who was of immense support to him always, and to the entire family in this time of intense grief and loss. We will remember you always Eddie. Ave atque Vale.

I want to extend my heartfelt condolences to the entire Gallagher family. They have lost a beloved brother, husband, father, and grandfather. I have also lost a dear friend of nearly forty years.

Eddie loved his family more than words can express, and his grandchildren meant the world to him in every aspect of love, life, and fulfilment.

He was grounded in his principles and contributed to his family and profession in the best way he knew how. When I think of him, the words "everything" and "massively" come to mind.
