Frances, our sincere sympathies to you and all the family on the sad loss of your sister Eileen.
— Eugene & Anna.
My deepest sympathies to the family of Mrs Nolan. She was an amazing woman, always wanting the best for all her students, and we knew we had the best teaching us. RIP
— Larissa Hennessy former Montfort and St Mary’s Midleton
Sincere condolences to Mary and Frances, Frank and Brendan, and to Eileen's nieces and nephews, to all the OP'Brien and Nolan Families, to Trevor and the extended Montfort Family, and her very wide circle of friends.

I first met Eileen Nolan as a young child in Turner's Cross primary school, when she visited once a week to give us "elocution" lessons. What an amazing teacher and speaker!

Years later, my 2 daughters joined the Montforts for dance classes when they were both under 3 years old, and one of them is now a part time teacher with the Montforts.

When we operated "All-Round Travel", Eileen and her family and colleagues booked all their travel with us and regaled us with magnificent stories of their travels.

I have long and fond memories of Eileen - she was a wonderful, colourful character, full of fun and such a lady.

May you rest in peace Eileen, now reunited with your beloved Tony.
— Anne Cronin

My deepest sympathy goes out to all Eileen's nearest and dearest immediate, extended family and friends. I was very upset to hear of Eileen's passing. Eileen was a true example of someone who has lived their life to the full. I will always remember Eileen sitting backstage guiding us all to help ease the nerves before performing our end of year displays for Karen Cotter & Mary Weston. A True Icon of her time , Gone but surely Never Forgotten, Rip with your late husband . Thankfully Cork City and the wider world is a better place thanks to Eileen's impact on all who have and still continue to attend Performance Academy lessons. Oh how we have all grown in the way we speak, listen, carry ourselves and send love and ooze confidence out into the big bad world. Eileen's legacy will live on forever in our hearts, souls and minds. What a great age to live to. I hope I can make that birthday too! See you on the other side my friend. Hugs & kisses
— Past student of Monfort College Elaine Mc Grath

Sincere condolences to Frances Mary & all the Monfort group. We were so lucky to have been part of the Monforts from the very beginning. It was such a part of our teenage years in the 60’s. ..not just in our participations on stage but in our personal development… we had so much fun & have so many happy memories of that time.
May Eileen Rest in Peace.
— Martha (Gibbons) Conlon
So many great memories of my time with the Monforts over the years attending dance and drama classes in Ballyvolane and Leitrim Street and experiencing the thrill of performing on stage at the Opera House and CAT Club. We all stood a little taller when Mrs Nolan visited the class, always so encouraging and inspirational.

Mrs Nolan ('Eili O'Brien' as my granny used to call her) grew up on the same street as my dad Liam (Curtin) and I am told she was also an extremely generous tipper when he acted as altar boy at her wedding!

Mrs Nolan is a Cork icon whose work had a huge impact on so many lives, including mine. Her legacy will live on.

Sincere condolences to her family and the extended Monforts team.

— Mary Prendergast and Family
Sending my deepest condolences to Mrs. Nolan’s entire family, including her extended Montfort family worldwide.

I fondly recall being the youngest Montfort abroad when I was just three years old. I had the privilege of traveling with Eileen and the Montforts, along with my parents, Denis and Tricia Long, to Jefferson City, Missouri. From that early age, the word “Montforts” became synonymous with home for me.

My childhood was shaped by the Montfort world that Mrs. Nolan created. I attended nursery school in Ballyvolane, took dance classes on Leitrim Street, and performed on the stage at the Opera House. Every moment spent in that environment was a dream come true.

Mrs. Nolan’s presence exuded elegance and class wherever she went, and I’m certain the heavens are no exception. I imagine the heavens were filled with laughter and reminiscing as my dad and her beloved Tony shared a Dubonnet and a sing-song for old times’ sake. I am eternally grateful for the wonderful childhood memories she gifted me.

May she rest in eternal peace.

“I’ve heard it said,
That people come into our lives for a reason,
Bringing something we must learn.
And we are led to those
Who help us most to grow if we let them. And we help them in return.” I was so sad and glad to be with you today. I regret not seeing you over the years but you always occupied a place in my heart. Thank you for taking me on as a Drama teacher-in-training, having taught me and countless others in SHSS where you were and are so loved. Thank you to you, Margaret and Trevor Ryan for giving me the chance to delve into the world of musical theatre and education. I have directed many musicals and I have you to thank for this ability. Our sincere condolences to the O'Brien and Nolan families on the passing of Mrs Nolan. She left an outstanding and important legacy not only to the theatre community of Cork and elsewhere (think of Summer Revels, Pantomimes, Musical productions and the Montfort Stage School etc) but she showed during a difficult time in Ireland's history that women could be leaders, mentors and forward thinkers. She offered a safe place for young people to be themselves and she brought colour, fantasy, escape and employment to our grey social and economic landscape. She has left her mark, may she now rest in peace.
