It is with great sadness that I learned of The sudden passing of my old and good friend retired ex Garda Fintan Colleran one of lifes finest gentlemen. Remembering Fintan during our years growing up together and our secondary school years in St Aloysius college, A Quiet and reserved young lad who kept to himself a lot.
FIntan was a remarkable student and while he didnt play or be involved in sport , his interests lay in English literature, Geography and history. His extensive reading of English and Geography reminded me of an unforgettable answer he gave to the principal Fr Feeney one day when asked during class "If given the chance of a life adventure ,what would he choose". His stunning reply at that age:- "To follow the Amazon to its source,"!. Fr Feeney replied "I would go with you".
We lost contact during our working years other than family funerals, but we met by chance recently and had a great recap of our youth and school day's together .
