I'm only after stumbling upon the Requiem video tonight, with no idea Fr Donal had died almost 2 months ago. He was a great friend to me between 1985-87 during his years in Ballyjamesduff when I was in Kilnacrott Abbey. I was at his Silver Jubilee in 1988. We kept in touch vaguely and the last time I saw him would have been at the Maynooth Union about 20 years ago when I was there to promote the Cause of Fulton Sheen. He was a fine man altogether and I'm glad he had a long and active life and his decline and demise were relatively brief. RIP.

It's with great sadness that I heard of Fr. Hannons recent death. Deepest sympathy to Fr. Hannons family, friends & fellow priests at this difficult time. I've fond memories of Fr. Hannons time in Kiltyclogher. Spent a lot of time in his house with his lovely & kind housekeeper Evelyn & his poodle who walked on his front paws, something that I found fascinating & gave me a love of animals. So sorry I only learnt of Fr. Hannons sad passing recently. May you Rest in Heavenly Peace now Fr. Hannon. 🙏💔

Our deepest sympathies to the family and community of Rev. Fr Donald Hannon RIP. The Kiltyclogher Community were blessed to have him as their Curate from 1973 – 1980. He was responsible for the erection of our local Community Centre during a time, when Kiltyclogher was suffering economically and demographically. This centre remains the hub of the village 50 years later.
He worked tirelessly in the parish. As well as his religious duties, he involved himself with the youth by nurturing their talents. He will be remembered for his many concerts, “Tops of the Town” competitions, Slógadh, and carol singing trips to Henry Street in Dublin. We also remember his annual festivals, car treasure hunts and sports days.
Go mbeidh tú I do luí i measc na Naomh.

Heartfelt sympathies to Fr Hannon’s family & friends near & far. I had a lovely visit with him in August & I relayed to him the many contributions he made while he ministered in Knockbride. We are proud Killann people but we did go to school in Knockbride & played football badly for Knockbride which Fr Hannon reminded me of same occasionally.
We have only happy memories of you in the Mc Dermott household , playing football & cards, turning hay with a golf club etc.
May you now Rest in Peace Fr Hannon.
