Germaine made a difference to many lives through her work in adult literacy. She was lovely to work with and loved by her colleagues. I was saddened to hear of her death and extend my sympathies to her family.

We are devastated by your tragic news. We were very fortunate to meet your Gorgeous Mum, twinkle in the eye, in her very favourite spot Hotel Bon Sol in October. She was beautiful, chic, fun loving & I could read from our brief encounters she was v adventurous - she threw herself into the waves without a care. She really touched our hearts.

Heartfelt sympathies to Jamie, Simon Rachel and David on the passing of your mother. We all called her ‘Aunty Germaine’ even though she wasn’t a blood relative. Germaine was mums best friend and my brother Colman’s godmother. I met her most recently when she visited mum in Dundalk in September: she regaled us with stories of wonderful family holidays (including ones where grand children had chickenpox by the pool! ). She was a glamorous, vivacious, great raconteur . And she spoke of how blessed she was with her fabulous ‘direct speaking’ children. She will be greatly missed in Dundalk.

Heartfelt sympathy to Germaine’s family Jamie; Rachel, Simon & David on the sudden death of their incomparable mother & my dearest friend. You must feel utterly bereft now, but the marvellous memories of your lives together will in time give you great consolation.
Our friendship started in school in Dundalk when a lovely girl joined my class a month late & we cycled home together most evenings.. Meantime Germaine wasn’t too long in the bank in Abbeyleiix when she married Jim & they had a wonderful family! Our last meeting was here in Dundalk ion September 18th & we parted with the notion it that we would be content if we got another 10 years.
What a shock I got when Rachel rang me on Germaine’s phone to tell me the awful news!
God bless my beloved friend of 64 years & May she continue to regale the heavenly souls with her marvellous fun & joy filled stories , Carmel

I’m so sorry for the loss of the most kindest woman. Germaine used to come up to us in pollys abbeyleix everyday with a smile and her partner in crime(her dog). So sorry to hear that Germaine has lost the battle. She was a terrific lady (she and I worked togerher on the committee of the L.S.P.C.A. for a long time) and her cmmitment to
