A big thank you to all involved in the process of seeking a pardon for Harry, and in completing the circle by bringing him back to his home place. This was my Father’s wish all his life.. Paddy O Dwyer… he spoke about Harry so much that we all knew his story growing up. It was a very special and unique day in Holy Cross Abbey and it was a privilege to have been there.

I was born and I live in London but the poignant homecoming last weekend of Henry Gleeson has re-connected me with my Tipperary roots, with emotions I did not really expect. I do not have to add to the many formal funeral tributes here, but simply wish to commend ALL involved over the decades. I permit myself to record a moving family anecdote: My great grandad, Billy O'Gorman of Glenough, Rossmore was a friend and business partner of Gleeson's. He attended the trial but was not called to give evidence. Unsurprisingly, a juror collapsed when the judge was summing up with chillingly ruthlessness and shocking bias against Harry. As the court adjourned briefly, Billy (my great grandad) tried to console Harry as he was being led away. The immortal words of a terrified Harry to my great grandad "say a prayer for me Billy" are recorded in the excellent book, "Murder At Marlhill". I like to think now that justice will shine down on the green lands of Tipperary ("God's own country") forever with Harry back under its sod and looking down from the mysterious land beyond. Rest well now Harry. All who did not betray you (many now passed on) they, and Justice itself, are the victors now.
— Rory Carroll, London.
A long overdue triumph, that Henry Gleeson returns to his beloved heath for eternal rest. All who played a part, & there are so many, deserve great accolades but, without question, the diligence of the late Marcus Bourke, retired barrister from the AG's office, combined with his meticulous researcher, local-man Eddie Dalton were seminal in what culminated in "Murder At Marlhill" - a compelling catalogue for Gleeson's innocence. It paved the way for what would bear fruit in recent years. Recent efforts were spearheaded by Bernadette Gorman (Lowry) on Tipp FM. All were based on these earlier tireless and meticulous efforts: It was more than fitting, that Eddie Dalton, who worked ceaselessly on Harry's case for decades & found the rigged Firearms' register as early as 1982, was honoured by the Tipperary Association Dublin with a Lifetime Achievement Award.(Plaudits too, to them.) A special word must go to Bourke's brave publisher, Willie Nolan, (Geography Publications) for his gallantry in publishing a book that was so unpopular in 1993. It restores one's fate in humanity that every new decade threw up new individuals who refused to look the other way, viz Gleeson's grim, uncorrected plight. Most were motivated by the bonds of love, sorrow and outraged, handed down the generations close to it. The bones of the dead it is said, cry out for justice and this final homecoming should be more than a spiritual catharsis: This epic tragedy has a big lesson for official Ireland!!
— Dr Michael Casey, Professor/Fellow of the State, Templemore.
May Harry now rest peacefully. It was an awful injustice. Greatest respect and admiration for those who fought to clear his name.

May Harry rest in peace.

Condolences to the Gleeson family and also congratulations on your huge achievement in clearing the good name of your beloved Harry RIP. So sad to think that the cowardly person(s) who murdered the beautiful Moll McCarthy walked free. I hope and pray to God that someone in this day and age will disclose the true identity of the murderer(s) as surely someone out there must have this knowledge. What a lesson it would be for society if the perpetrators were named even after all this time, perhaps future generations would think twice before committing such an evil act. The Gleeson and the McCarthy families who have suffered so much over the years deserve the full story.

My late Great-Uncle Pat Furlong was a good friend and neighbour of Harry's when he lived at Marlhill. I am sure he would have been glad to know that his friend would be rightly exonerated and finally laid to rest where he deserved. Hard to imagine now what a difficult, frustrating and dreadful time it must have been. Condolences and well done to all Harry's family and supporters. May he rest in peace.
— George Furlong, Cappawhite

My sincere sympathy with Harry's surviving relatives and extended family. Congratulations to those who fought tirelessly to clear his name and right the wrongs insofar as was possible.
To call Harry's conviction and sentence a miscarriage of justice is a misstatement. Miscarriages of justice are usually as a result of errors or incompetence but this was a case of an innocent man being framed for a heinous crime to protect the true perpetrator(s). The case reminds me of that of Myles Joyce who was wrongly hanged for the Maamtrasna murders in Galway in 1882. He said from the gallows that he would meet Jesus, a man wrongly killed, on that day. Harry went to his death with fortitude, knowing he was taking a true criminal's place. I have no doubt that both Myles and Harry joined Jesus Christ in heaven the moments they died.
Sadly, justice was only party done. Harry Gleeson was deprived of decades of life, Moll McCarthy was brutally murdered, her daughter was incarcerated in a Magdalen home and the true killer(s) were never held to account. Thank God Harry is back where he belongs.
— Galway Lawyer
