Dear Aunt Gracie and Family
We’re thinking of you during this very sad time. We remember meeting Jimmy for the first time and he was so welcoming and chilled; it felt like we had met before. Every time we met him since then he always had a smile on his face and was always checking to be sure everyone was comfortable.
We can’t begin to imagine the impact of this new reality on the family.
We pray that God will give you all peace and strength during this time and comfort you all with the knowledge that what you have once enjoyed (Jimmy’s company) you can never lose and who you love deeply becomes a part of you.
May the fond memories of Jimmy bring you all comfort during this painful time and may God rest his soul.

So sad and shocked to hear of Jimmy's passing. He was one of the most caring and considerate people, who always thought of others feelings before his own.

He had unshakeable faith which really showed in how he treated others with a selfless respect and understanding of their needs, before his own.

He always brought others first.

He had kind words to say about everyone he met.  He loved to visit family and acquaintances and he was always a joyful visitor.

His family and friends were so precious to him, as were all the people he helped and worked with throughout his amazing life. If he could help someone by talking to them or by giving them a helping hand to achieve their goals, he was there for them.

Our sincere and heartfelt condolences to all your family and relations and to your lovely wife Grace and her family and her relatives.  Jimmy always spoke highly of all of you Grace.   He was so passionate about really caring for and protecting those he loved.

He will be sorely missed by everyone he encountered throughout his life.

Jimmy, you will be missed forever.   May your gentle soul rest in the peace of God.

Dear Jimmy, you were a kind and dear friend and kept us all smiling.

We will miss you terribly.

Sincere sympathy to Gracie and all the family, hope you can find comfort. Jimmy is in good hands now.

Jimmy was such a warm unassuming kind person and I was always pleased to see him. It wasn’t often we met over the years due to living in different places but as a cousin he was open and caring when we did meet. There are so many memories of holidays in Warrenpoint in a caravan arranged by Aunt Ellie his mum and we were invited to stay even though there wasn’t room for us they all somehow made space for us. I was upset and moved to hear that Jimmy had passed away and having read the other condolences he was loved and respected by very many people. He will have his lovely kind mum to take care of him now as he passes from this world. Jimmy will be very missed. Love to all his family and siblings too. Cousin Geraldine xx

I love you Daddy. I have always loved you. I will always love you. Rest in peace. Please God be by your side. I am heartbroken; I have missed you. I will always miss you.
Love, your daughter, Elaine.

Jimmy (Dad), our plan after Christmas was to return home in February, but not under these circumstances. We embraced at the airport, and I didn’t realize it would be our final hug; otherwise, I would have held on a little longer.

Thank you for all the moments we shared. You never failed to share how proud you were of me. I will miss your random jokes and skits; your unique way of checking up on me. Although I would sometimes question your decisions in hopes that you put yourself first, the bottomline was that you cared so much for others, and that was just who you were.

I will miss the times you would buy delicious treats for Kyra, not only for her, but for both of you as you enjoyed eating together. You were a wonderful granddad to her and she misses you deeply, yet finds comfort in knowing she now has a guardian angel.

You were also an incredible husband. Mummy misses you immensely. She loved and protected you like a fragile egg, never wanting you to slip away but that’s her reality now. God’s plans are always bigger than ours. I pray that she finds the strength to get through this period, and that the love you two share remains everlasting.

I’ll miss you, and I’ll never forget you. Lucky angels, they now get to enjoy your company.
— Cheryl (Mimi)
Great one may soul rest in perfect peace i always remember you🙏🌹

Jimmy we met in Minna in 1991 when l arrived as a young missionary to Kafin Koro and you were part of PW and you and others were so generous to us and l and all the various missionaries in that area throughout MINNA and beyond.
You often invited us as missionaries to a break and time to rest and relax either at PW Minna and later to Abuja.
Your kindness support and you oneness and so generosity to us and l as missionaries, was incredible and l will never forget that.
When l was building a new mission and clinic you arrived one Sunday evening with a fleet of P.W trucks with stones, cement, sand for to get our new project up and running.
Amazing Jimmy and besides been a great friend, you were always on the look out to the least, the last, and the lost, and those most in need .
Jimmy you were a true missionary and you shared so much in our ministry and work in those days and may you be welcomed and given your rightful place among the elect of God in your eternal home.
Thanks Jimmy rest in peace faithful servant until we meet again.

“When we die, life is changed not ended.”
So sorry to hear of Jimmy’s death. There are many missionaries - particularly SMAs - who had the benefit of Jimmy’s expertise with buildings etc. in many parts of Nigeria. In particular the magnificent Church that is Holy Family Abuja where Fr Tomas Walsh SMA got so much support and help from Jimmy and other PW personnel.
Jimmy, no doubt St Therese of Lisieux, Patroness of the Missions, was at the gates of heaven to welcome you, a man who spent his life doing good for the benefit of others. You gave, without ever counting the cost!
Rest well in your new life in heaven.
Pray for us as we continue our pilgrim journey.
— Fr Martin Kavanagh SMA
I spoke to Jimmy for the first time not so long ago, ironically at a funeral wake. What struck me most was how genuine, civil and engaging he was. Afterwards it's fair to say that I felt better for having met him, and when I saw him briefly one or two days later, he was as friendly as before. My sense is that people who knew him properly were fortunate to have a loyal friend, someone who exuded reliability and decency. Good company and a good person. I'm glad that I met him. Not too many people 'resonate' with me but he did.

Rest in peace Jimmy.

Dear Jimmy,

you were a titan of integrity, intellect, and kindness. Your tireless work ethic inspired us all. But beyond your professionalism you were a good man, a devoted father, and a mentor who treated me like a son.

Your unwavering support and encouragement meant the world to me. You celebrated and backed my endeavors without hesitation.

Having shared many years of work and adventures in Africa, I cherish the memories of your passion and commitment to excellence. You set the bar high, Your legacy is one of kindness, generosity, and inspiration. You will be deeply missed, but your impact will live on. You are, and forever will be, a legend."

Rest in peace, dear Jimmy. My heartfelt condolences to your loved ones.

Our whole family knew and loved Jimmy when we got to know him in Nigeria.
We extend our condolences to the family.

Dear Jimmy,

You were the hardest-working and sharpest mind in the room—a good man and a wonderful father. You never failed to remind me that you considered me a son and that you loved me. You were always proud of my achievements, no matter how small, and you supported my education, my work, and my family without hesitation.

We did not speak much for a while but I am so sure that the moment you heard of any progress in my life, you celebrated it as if it were your own. You always instilled in me the value of honest, hard, and smart work—lessons I will carry with me forever. I will miss our messages, our check-ins, and the wisdom you shared so freely.

My greatest regret is not being able to visit you in Ireland, but I know you understood my reasons. I will always remember you, and I will always be grateful for the impact you had on my life. I pray God gives us all the strength to move on and remember you with smiles.

Rest well, Jimmy.

Dad as I fondly called him. Was a man who never joked when it came to family. He was always there for me and my family and always gave the best advice any father could give to a man he embraced as his son. Dad was always looking at the bright side of life and was very protective of my mother his wife and always cared for her and loved her so much and made sure she was never without. I will miss you so much as your last message to me over Christmas was telling me how much you missed my presence in Ireland for Christmas and how easy it would be when cooking for the big family. May you Rest where there is Peace. I know you definitely made Heaven because on earth you were definitely an Angel in human form. Love you always and I will never forget you.
— Donald (Stepson)
Rest in peace, Jimmy. I knew you as my friend Grace’s beloved husband, and though I only met you a few times in different places, I always admired your unique blend of gentleness and quiet strength. My heartfelt condolences and prayers go out to Grace and the entire family during this difficult time.
