Joe was a terrific friend to our family and in earlier years to the Fitzgerald family from Lavally. He was a fantastic character with an infectious laugh and a brilliant sense of humour. He loved a good chat and a good joke. When Joe got into his storytelling stride it was virtually impossible to get a word in edgeways. He will be sorely missed by all. May he RIP.

We did not have a car growing up so Joe was regularly hired for family trips to Athlone, Dundalk & Carrigallen Co Leitrim. I remember Joe as always being pleasant & patient & kind, even when we got car sick. He was always a great talker & we were always entertained by him He had a great rapport with my brothers on those family trips. May Joe rest in peace..
