Sincere condolences to all the Aspell's family on John's passing. I knew John from when i worked in the community hospital where he and his brother scotty would visit their mam and the banter and laughter coming from that room was so funny, i was on the receiving end most of the time. Later on he became my dads neighbour in fr cullens tce, he used to joke about having competition as my Dad was also a great singer. John was a character and i wish him eternal rest, he wont be forgotten.
— Sandra and Matthew Kehoe, Barrack lane

Our sincere condolences to Caroline, Toni, Shane, Moira, Scotty, Iris and the extended Aspell Family. We were very saddened to hear that John had died. Another New Ross legend has exited the Stage. John was a great character to spend time with. The laughter and the stories flowed. He was blessed with a powerful and unique voice. My favourite song was his rendition of The Rose. He could bring you close to tears with a song and 5 minutes later you would be laughing at his next choice. Rest in peace, old pal and thanks for the memories
