John Daly

John Daly taught me French for six years. The year after I left school I spent several weeks in France in 1971. The ease with which I was able to converse with the locals I attribute to Mr Daly. He was a fine teacher.

It was an absolute pleasure to work with John over the past months. My deepest condolences to Angela, Genevive and the whole family. May John rest in peace!

Having worked as an au-pair in the family of John's daughter Angela, I have only met John a couple of times but nonetheless I could tell immediately what a wonderful and kind person he was. My sincere condolensces to the Daly family.

We are all thinking of you during this very sad time. I have such fond memories of Uncle John, he was ever the gentleman. Daragh loved their chats about golf. I had two great teachers in Belvedere College. One of them was Mr Daly. I had him for English and French. He made learning interesting for me, and for that I will always be grateful.
I have nothing but good memories of him, even from after school, on the rare occasions we met. He was a kind and fair teacher. A good man all in all.

Dear Angela and all my cousins,
so sorry and saddened to hear of Uncle John's passing. He was greatly loved by our Mum, Kathleen, and our Dad Peter, always so lovely to us all, and nice to have his connection to Cork GC where he played V Cork for Limerick GC all those years ago, where his Dad played in the 1932 Irish Open won by Alf Padgham, and to see all the love and warmth from his former students in their comments is so touching.
