Sad to see that the one and only John Francis McCarthy has left us. He was a great character, always in good spirits and the crack followed him wherever he went. Pints of porter in the Grand Hotel,with stories and laughter after the Grand Tour Pitch and Putt wagon rolled back to the town after each outing.
He will be fondly remembered. Our sympathy to Lena and the family and to Catherine and Eddie.

We have fond memories of John when he was a member of Adare Manor Golf Club, a cub that he Captained with distinction in his early years. We recall John as a determined low handicap golfer in his time and who won many inter club foursome matches wearing the club colours. John was first and foremost a gentleman, popular and very good company. He had a zest for life that helped him get through the many tribulations he endured.
