John was a king of a man, whose presence brought warmth, wit, kindness, intelligent conversations, wonderful stories and joy wherever he went. Mary & John were great friends of my parents Séamus and Nola and I have warm & wonderful memories of times spent together in Roundstone, around our table there, in Dublin and indeed in The United Arts Club over many years.
