I visited Drumlonagher many times and it was always a pleasure - why? Coz i had the most welcoming Aunt (best fried eggs in Ireland btw) and Uncle imaginable. I always remember John for the big voice, the humour, his lively gregarious nature and the fact he had a saying for everything 😉 - he was always in good form and was just one of those people whose company was a pleasure to be in. Hopefully he is up there getting heavenly fried eggs served up to him by Auntie Pat.

It was with great sadness that we heard of the passing of John recently.
Our sincere condolences to Dara and Stephen and the extended Mulrennan and Sharpe families. I have cherished memories of John
and the love of his life Pat, who pre-deceased him some years ago when
they were 'going out' together in the 60's, being next door neighbours of the Sharpes.
Ar dheis De go raibh a anam uasal ! Rest in Peace,John.

Uncle John was always so fun to be around growing up. A gentle, jolly giant of a man who could always make us laugh as kids. I especially remember as a child Uncle John taking Glenn and I fishing on the river at the end of the road.

But visiting Uncle John had its perils too…every visit entailed a number of hours splitting pea pods, picking carrots, weeding or whatever Uncle John’s garden or greenhouse required at that time. No free dinners at ‘Amstel’ !

So sorry for your loss Dara and Stephen, and especially sad to be so far away at this time.

Love from all the Sharpes in Charleston SC
