So sorry to hear of John's tragic passing - he was always such a gentleman when I would meet him kayaking or climbing. Such a tragic loss and I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family and to his friends, especially those that were with him at the time.

I'm very sad that I can't travel to say goodbye to John in person today.

Through my work with the late Brendan Bracken, I got to know John soon after I moved to Ireland in 2003 and instantly liked him for his authenticity, sense of humour, guidance and his trust and generosity in letting some fella from Iceland support him on his client work.

We stayed in touch in subsequent years but sadly the conversations became to few and far between.
