I have known him for well over a half century as a result of our common interest and involvement with Irish Racewalking. He was a perfect gentleman and made a major contribution to the immense achievements by Irish Racewalkers over the past thirty years or more.
May his gentle soul rest in peace!

Met Con at Athletics event in Carlow many moons ago. Got chatting on Sport and he was friendly and very knowledgeable on training and I could sense his intelligence. He left an impression on me.

He was my supervising Detective Sergeant when I started as a trainee detective in Donnybrook in the early 70’s. He was kind, considerate and fair in his dealings with all personnel. He treated the public similarly. He was full of integrity, passing on his high principals to the team who delivered great successes for him.

My first meeting with Con was I had just arrived from Templemore in May 1985. I was walking down to station on Newtownpark Avenue. It was lashing rain and I was drenched. Con pulled up beside me in his blue Fiat 127 and gave me a lift to Blackrock. I never forgot Con for that lift. My father was a Guard and knew Con from his time in Chapelizod
