Joe was a true gentleman with the most welcoming kind heart and a mischievous sense of humour. He always had time for a chat and would do anything to help. Many an evening he would see a package delivered to my door and take it in for me when I was at work or in Pete's and he was always so fond of his garden. He will be greatly missed. Eanna, you are so like him in your sense of humour and turn of phrase.. may Joe's gentle soul rest in peace.

Joe was always ready with a warm smile and a friendly wave, brightening the day of anyone who passed by him in Sutton Park. His genuine interest in others, openness to chat and great sense of fun made him a treasured friend to us all. His presence will be deeply missed in the area.

Above all, he loved his family, and my thoughts are with Nuala, Conall, Éanna, Fionnuala and all of Joe's family at this very sad time.
