As a former student, at the Department of Geography at Trinity College, I send my deepest condolences. Prof Haughton made an important contribution to shaping what has become my career as an academic geographer. Most recently I have published on Africa and this research and writing these papers took me back to listening to his lectures on the tropical world.
— John Bryson (Prof. of Enterprise and Economic Geography)

I had the great good fortune to consider Professor Haughton my 'boss' for over 22 years in Trinity. He was a gentleman in the true meaning of the word and a kind and astute person with a subtle sense of humour, who knew how to get the best from his colleagues.
I remember him with great affection, unfortunately frailness prevents my attendance at his memorial service.
May he rest in peace.
— Martha Lyons

Jenny, sending you, and all the family, my thoughts and sympathies on the death of your father. What a long life and a constant presence in your own.
With fond memories of so many happy childhood visits to your lovely home where Joe and Helen were always so welcoming, providing sandwiches after swims and tolerating us rampaging through the raspberry canes !
Your father was such a distinguished scholar in Trinity, so much part of the university as I was growing up.
Thinking of you today.
