Our deepest sympathies to Winnie, Ciaran and Jennifer. Your family is in our prayers.

When Michelle and I were celebrating our one-year wedding anniversary, we decided to take a trip Ireland so she could meet my extended family and see the beautiful countryside. While mentioning the trip to Uncle Kevin just in passing, he not only offered great advice but also graciously offered to be our own tour guide! To say we were lucky is an understatement.

Uncle Kevin drove us from Laois to the Cliffs of Moher, treated us to various pubs and even got on a boat to the Aran Islands despite telling us before he wasn't a fan of boats and was certain to be seasick (In his defense, Captain Ahab would have gotten seasick on those awful waves and that rickety boat). That trip with him was the highlight of our vacation and one that Michelle and I will cherish forever.

That trip perfectly sums up Uncle Kevin to me. A man who was always willing to lend a hand, go the extra mile and one who could converse with about anything (American and World Politics, literature, whether the New York Mets or New York Jets would stop losing and learn to win a few championships like Arsenal). We'll always miss you Uncle Kevin and thank you for being an all-around great man.

As Kevin's other brother-in-law, just as I was at a loss for words when I learned of your illness, I remain that today. I will miss our email exchanges ranging from American politics to sports. As everyone knows Kevin had a very inquisitive, learned mind and his writing was second to none.

One of his talents which I always got a kick out of was his ability to associate people with the car they were driving. He would meet many of my relatives who he hadn't seen in 30 years, reintroduce himself, and somewhere in the conversation tell them what car they were driving those many years ago. My relatives would always end up with a quizzical look on their faces saying "That's right."

RIP Kevin. You will be missed but never forgotten.
— Michael Brennan
