Deepest condolences on the passing of Liam to Frieda, Pat, Mary, Jim and extended Heron Family and fiends. Also, Georgina who “cracked the whip” on Liam’s behalf in more recent times.

Great memories of Liam and walking the dogs with him as a youngster and in more recent times meeting up for lunch, catching up on “old” Swords, horse racing, exchanging and discussing books and his visits to faraway places on racing trips and so much more.

Rest in peace Liam.

So sad to hear of our good friend and colleague Liam passing. He was such a gentleman and an honour to have him as part of our Society for many years. Full of stories and memories he shared with us through the years and he loved to solve the mystery of an old photo of Swords places long gone. He will be sadly missed by us all here in Swords. Deep sympathy to the Heron family on Liam's death. Kay and I shared many a racing trip with him as members of the Racing Club of Ireland, the brainchild of Kevin Smith RIP. We have missed our chats of late
at the races. A treasured picture we have of Liam was taken at our Club dinner in February 2006 to honour Aidan O Brien. Liam is directly behind Aidan in the group photograph. May Liam rest in eternal peace after a life truly lived.

I went racing with Liam for 43 years, plenty in Ireland and great trips to Cagnes-sur-Mer.
He himself raced in South America, Australia, USA, UK, France, Canada, Hong Kong, Macau and Kenya. He was a wise, generous and intelligent man, kind and full of good humour. A lifelong friend whom i will never forget.

Very sorry to hear of Liams passing. He was a great friend to our dad, Paddy and we have lovely photos of the two of them together as fine young men in Swords a long time ago. I’m sure they will have a mighty catch up in their heavenly home. Rest in peace Liam and condolences to his family

Liam was a lifelong family friend but he was the one person who nurtured and encouraged my love for horse racing. One for punctuality, my Saturday mornings to get a lift to Navan & Fairyhouse taught me to be before time and not on time!. He brought me on all his Racing Club trips to yards and the races and he was very “constructively critical” when I started commentating but he always meant well. He was a stalwart of the Irish horse racing scene and he will be sadly missed but fondly remembered. May he rest in peace.

Liams passing is a Hugh loss to all his family & friends & he was always our first call on our visits to Swords. He will be sorely missed by all the local historical societies & his vast knowledge & friendly manner were a gift to us all. God Bless Liam & RIP.

Liam lived opposite us for so many years . Our children got off the school bus outside his gate and he was often there with his dog to greet them. His lovely presence will be much missed by all in Swords and especially in Longlands. May he rest in peace.

Many great days with Liam at the races and a brilliant owner with Paddy too with plenty of success. Liam was a huge part of our and our own children’s lives.
