To Mai, Annemarie, Alma and all the Feeley family, My deepest sympathies are with you all on the sad death of Louis. I worked with him in OPW since I joined National Monuments in 1973 until Louis retired, and worked with him again in Clonmel when he became involved in the Mainguard. He was a great colleague, who became a life long friend. He was always helpful, knowledgeable about all he did, and gemerous with that knowledge - and I treasure the book of verse that was put together for his retirement, a man of many talents. I am sadly unable to travel to Kilkenny for his funeral, but my thoughts are with you all. Suaimhneas síoraí.

My earliest memories of first cousin Louis go back to the very early 60s watching him & twin brother Eugene play - was it for the county ? - in the old Gaa ground in Roscommon town.

Shortly after, how proud he rightly was to show my father & I his wonderful work for the OPW on his passions - the restoration of Kilkenny Castle & Rothe House, testament now to him & his skilled colleagues' vision and work.


We also recall Mannion Gatherings from 1978 and as recently as 2019 in which he was an eager participant.

What a long, happy life he enjoyed, and blessed those close to him by!

Thoughts now with Mai, Annamarie, Alma, Brian and of course with Noel, now sadly the last standing Feeley sibling and cousin

I first met Louis in 1993 when he gave generously of his advice and expertise to our volunteer group, whilst we carried out the renovation of Knocktopher Cemetery.
He was a man of great integrity and it has been a pleasure to have known him, and to be in his company over the years.
