Very sincere sympathy to all the family on the loss of such a special person in your lives. I met Mary on the GMIT art course and thoroughly enjoyed her humour, talent, integrity, intelligence and kindness. She was and is a beautiful soul.

Mary will always be missed by her family, but she will also be remembered as the loving human being she was. Mary lives in her family's heart.

First of all my sincere condolences to you all for your loss. I'm a friend of Dalen's and have seen pictures of Mary and heard about her. She came across as a feisty and strong woman. I love that whatever her age, she still took an interest in her appearance, her hair and in what she wore. God bless her and may she rest in peace.

Mrs Hughes was not only an incredible and inspirational teacher but also a truly kind and wonderful person. It was a privilege to have been taught by her. I have such fond memories of her teaching Geography at the Mercy Convent in Tuam, her long black gown billowing behind her like a whirlwind of energy and enthusiasm as she entered the classroom. We were captivated by her presence, inspired by her passion and always in awe of her grace. A beautiful soul, always a lady.
One of my most abiding memories is the unforgettable field trip to The Burren in Co. Clare. On our way, we stopped for lunch at Coole Park where our class sat by the grassy lakeshore, listening as Mrs Hughes recited "He Wishes for the Cloths of Heaven" by WB Yeats. The day was already magical, but the experience wasn't over yet. On the way home, we stopped at Aillwee Cave, where our voices echoed through the caverns as we sang "The Mull of Kintyre". A beautiful childhood memory which lingers still...
Mrs Hughes certainly gave us a glorious field trip to remember!
May Our Blessed Lady wrap your mum in her heavenly mantle and may Jesus hold her in His arms and take her home to her eternal rest. My thoughts and prayers are with you Dalen and with your family during this very sad time.

Fond memories too of her mentoring the school debating team _ she delighted in our victories and supported us in defeat!! As a former student who went to become a teacher ,she epitomised for me the qualities a good teacher should possess and opened " the windows of wonder" for many Mercy pupils

Her ability to make you feel special and that you had a purpose was achieved by her unwavering sincere encouragement.
