So sad to see of Maureen’s death. My deepest sympathy to you Pamela and all the family on the loss of your beloved Mother, grandmother and sister. Maureen was in the same ward as my mum, on Medical 5 ward CGH, a year ago. Maureen and my mum got on so well and she was such a huge support to Mum and myself. Maureen got home on the day Mum died on 11th December. I will always remember Maureen’s great humour and kindness in those last difficult weeks. She looked out for everyone on the ward and rang the call bell on many occasions when Mum needed help, even when she was told off for doing so. May her compassion for others be rewarded in heaven. May Maureen be reunited with family and friends in paradise where all pain and suffering is over. You Pamela and all the family, will remain in my thoughts and prayers. May God comfort and Bless you.

I am truly sorry to learn of the passing of the beautiful person that was your mother and grandmother, Maureen. It was exactly one year previously that I first met and got to know her when she was positioned directly across from my own mam on Medical 5, CGH. Every evening as I attended with mam, who had dementia, I first had the full clinical report of her status from the duty nurse. Then, I got the full report of the actual day's proceedings from Maureen! I learned about visitor comings and goings and more importantly about care provision, feeding, drinks and general attention. That was the nature of Maureen. She looked out for everyone on the ward, not just mam. And formed bonds with all of them as most, unusually, were there, like her, for long durations. I found her very witty and loved having the conversation with her as she waited each day to be finally discharged. I last spoke with Maureen to say goodbye on 11th December. My mam died the following day having been discharged to the nursing home. I am really sorry for your loss. Take heart in knowing what a great person she was. And may the Good Lord comfort you in your grief.
