I only heard of Michael's death a short time ago. I worked with Michael in the RTE Players in the seventies both as an actor and producer. He was an extremely generous man and great fun. We had many a goodhearted disagreement about politics but respected each other's opinion. In fact I learned quite a lot from him. A gentle and giving soul, may he rest in peace.

Michael was a kind and decent man, a proud patriot who celebrated the best of our politics, art, culture and sport. I always enjoyed meeting him in the Radio Centre. His conversation was informed by well constructed opinions on most subjects. I often left our chats chastened but always smiling and better educated ~ especially in matters regarding Fianna Fáil. He could hold his own in any company, his performance as Laertes to Michael Mac Liammóir’s ‘Hamlet’ (https://www.rte.ie/radio/dramaonone/1439443-hamlet-by-william-shakespeare) is testimony to that.

I cherish the many many special memories made over the many christmases and Easter’s spent in Laois with my fabulous gran uncle Micheal and the rest of the Campion/O’Riordan clan. Now a teacher myself, i’ll carry him with me as long as i’m teaching like he once did. I find comfort in knowing he is at peace reunited with his sisters Trish and Nanny Joan.
