Heartfelt condolences to Mary, Dara, Sinead & all the extended Coleman & Cooley families on the untimely passing of Michael.
While he was a superb hurler for both club & county, it was his unbreakable spirit & laser focus to always give his best that made him such a great role model throughout his long playing career.
In recent years he displayed his versatility when overseeing our Baireoiri finances- without any fuss he inspired trust by keeping things timely accurate & simple. It was our privilege to work alongside such a gentleman.
We pray that the families many unique & warm memories of your great warrior will help smooth & console your broken hearts.
Rest peacefully Michael on your new armchair in God’s Heavenly kingdom-you were a very special friend.

I knew Michael from “the top of the stairs” in UCG a lifetime ago. From the outset he was a solid, sound, affable fellow who had a huge like minded interest in all things GAA. I watched from afar (Boston) as he backed up that solidity to forge a huge hurling career for himself and by all accounts made a similar contribution to community life in his local area and beyond. I offer my sincere condolences to Mary, Dara, Sinéad and all who knew and loved Michael. May he rest easily in heavenly peace.
— Brian Glynn, Kilkenny

Michael's contribution to hurling in Abbeyknockmoy, Galway & Leitrim are immeasurable and his legacy will endure for years. As Leitrim's hurling coach from 2015 to 2019 he lead the team to a historic Lory Meagher Championship victory in 2019. I had the pleasure of working along side him as manager of the Leitrim team, and his leadership focused on unity, pride and individual growth, encouraging players to reach their full potential. In those five years in Leitrim never missing a training session or a hurling match. Michael's passion and commitment left a lasting impact on the team and the sport.
