Comhbhrón ó chroí to Michael’s wife & family . I am just after seeing the sad news of his death in the Galway City Tribune as you celebrate his months mind mass . What a gentleman he was. He was so helpful & kind to me & our Board of Management when we were preparing for our first new school in Knocknacarra. I’ll always remember his support . I was aware of his poor health in recent years . Ag guí suaimhneas na bhFlaitheas ort Michael & gach sólás ar do mhuintir ar fad . Beannacht dílis Dé ar d’anam fíor uasal.

My deepest sympathy to the family. As a former pupil of Michael in the old girl's school (I think we were the last class to have that privilege) I remember him very fondly as a teacher who made sure we were ready for secondary school by encouraging us to self-organise long term projects, who always made the class interesting, and who did not give up, ever, on any child.
