Sincere condolences to the family of Mr Brennan. I remember him fondly as an inspirational teacher in Our Lady’s Bower in the early 1980’s. And a capable hockey player who played with and against my Dad in those years also. Rest peacefully Mr Brennan 🕊️
Breda & family my sincere condolences on Mike's passing. I only found out yesterday & although it was over 40 years since he taught me in Athlone I was sadden to hear the news. He was an inspirational maths teacher, so different in his approach. I was lucky to have his guidance for projects (noughts & crosses of all things) for the Aer Lingus Young Scientists competition in the late 1970's. One of those teachers that stays with you forever. May he rest in peace.
Sincerest sympathies to Breda and all the Brennan family on Micheáls passing.
I remember him as an empathetic and kind teacher of Gaeilge in the C.B.S who respected us all as young adults.
Later he was a great friend and colleague in WIT. We had many chats about Celtic knots and pure mathematics.
He was kind , generous and erudite on our Saturday History walks in KK.

So sorry to hear of Michaels passing. My condolences to all Michaels family. He was a good friend to me in the 70's when living in Manchester. We worked together on the Catonsville Roadrunner. I was pleased to renew our friendship more recently when Michael made a number of trips to Manchester and we remained in contact.
My sincere condolences to Mike's family.
Mike was a friend from the '70ies in Manchester. He was an inspiring figure and a caring and generous person. Many of us in Longsight looked up to him. I was very happy to meet him in 2011, in Geneva, where I live, together with our mutual friend, Colin.
He will always remain in my memory.

Condolences to the Brennan family on the loss of your lovely dad. Thinking of you all
I send deepest sympathy to Kate, Amy, Deirdre, Rachel and Breda, to his sister Margaret and to all in Michael's family on their great loss.
I first met Michael in 1963, when we (two Kilkenny lads) were both students at UCC, living in the Honan Hostel on the edge of the main campus. Michael and I later worked in Manchester, but at different times.
Michael had many great qualities – kind, gentle, sincere, generous with his time, and good-humoured. He was an exceptional and unforgettable person, and was one of the finest of people.

A founding member of Earls Court Residents Association and the Chairperson for many years. I have fond memories of our boat trips with Michael and Paul at Graiguenamanagh and our 'troika' 'meetings' at the Woodlands. Earls Court will be a poorer place without Michael.

The world is darker for his passing. Big heart, big brain... It's amazing how much he accomplished, in so many domains, and with such grace. In Manchester (early 70s) he played a central role in bringing very diverse people together and inspiring social change. From that time on, he and I kept up a correspondence that I now treasure. The family should feel very proud, and all those he touched will remember the great gifts he shared with us. My sympathies to you all.
Very sorry to hear of the passing of Michael. A gentle soul.

I am so sorry Amy, Rachel, Kate and Deirdre. You no longer have an exceptional man in your life. You have however, wonderful memories as I have. He lived and worked in Manchester during the 1970’s, a decade full of projects to improve the lives of people here and other parts of the world. He empathised with people which made everyone he met feel special. When he returned to Ireland his visits here were always welcome. I will always miss you.
Sincere condolences to all of Michael's family on his very sad passing. I had the privilege and pleasure to work with Michael in WIT. There was no problem he could not solve both inside and outside the classroom and he always gave reassuring advise and encouragement with his beautiful smile. Thank you Michael for always flying the maths flag both for your students and your colleagues, may you now rest in peace.
Heartfelt sympathy to all Michaels family. He was brilliant in so many ways.
Sincere condolences to the Brennan family on the passing of Michael. I had the great privilege of illustrating some of Michael's groundbreaking work on knot theory and the representation of knots in art - his great passion before his passing. He was one of the few scholars able to comfortably occupy that intersection of science and art. I always looked forward to chatting with him, where our conversations would range from art to archaeolgy, sport to culture and beyond. He was literally a scholar and a gentlemen and will be greatly missed.
Our sincere condolences to Micheal's immediate and extended family.
A true, kind gentleman. May his gentle soul rest in peace

Sincere condolences to Rachel and the Brennan family on the death of Michael. May he rest in peace.
My deepest condolences to Kate, Amy, Deirdre, Rachel and Breda. Micheal was the true definition of a gent and a scholar. The most insightful man who could hold a conversation on any topic. I have the fondest memories of travelling to Croke park with him and Seamus every summer to support Kilkenny. Kilkenny’s successes in hurling wouldn’t have been the same without those trips. I also loved visiting the house down in Waterford several times during the year. Always the most welcoming host. May he rest in peace.
I was saddened today to hear of the death of Michael from a mutual friend. I offer my sincere condolences to all his family on his loss. I knew him very well in the mid-sixties when we both stayed in the Honan Hostel in UCC for a period of one year. He was a multi - talented man with a special flare for mathematics. He was also a very sincere and caring person and convinced me by his example to follow him into the Legion of Mary because of the weekly social work which was mandatory for members. As a former teacher of mathematics myself, I continued to follow his work over the years in the area of the mathematics curriculum. Even when you disagreed with his view you had to dig deep to try to justify your own position as his was always well thought out and clearly presently. The world has lost a fine mathematician and, more importantly, a great human being. Ar dheis Dé go raibh tú, a Mhichíl.
Sincere sympathy to Michael’s family on his sad passing. We will miss his colourful talks on our Saturday morning history walks in Kilkenny. May he rest in peace
My sincere sympathy and prayers on the death of Michael. I first knew him years ago in St Kieran's College. In recent times he made a great contributions to the Kilkenny Historic Walking Group. I will remember him in my Mass tomorrow.

I was very sad to hear the news of Michael's passing today. I have very fond memories of his lectures in WIT where his knowledge and passion for education were always evident all parcelled up with his energy and a great sense of fun. Sincere condolences xx
Sincere condolences to the Brennan family on the death of Michael. We began our third level studies, different subjects, in UCC in the same year with Micheál excelling in his finals. In more recent years Micheál organised a number of us to get together on an annual basis to exchange our life experiences. Solas na bhFlaitheas ar a anam uasal dhílis.

Sincere condolences to the Brennan family on the sad passing of Michael, a Gentleman,May Michael rest in peace 🙏
Mike was a great friend going back over 50 years, from coming to my school to play the spoons to sharing his love of our shared Celtic past with me and welcoming my daughter to Irish dancing with his daughters in Waterford. Vale Comrade. Peter in Hobart, Tasmania.
I was very sad to learn today of Michael's death. I have known him for decades from addressing concerns about teaching maths in the 'RTC' sector in the 80s to research in the history of maths forty years later. He had so many qualities including dedication to teaching, exactness in thinking, persistence in research, a good sense of humour and really good company. The world of mathematics in Ireland is the poorer for his passing. My condolences to his family at this time of bereavement. May he remain fondly in your memory for years to come.
Sincere condolences to all of Michael’s family on the passing of a very caring man. Michael really did go above and beyond to help as many students as he could. He was an absolute gentleman in so many ways. RIP

I have many memories of my friend and one-time colleague, Michael, and the discussions, and wit, all five of us shared in Room 313 of SETU, Waterford. My best wishes, and condolences, to his family.
Michael and I were fellow students in UCC. I recall many enjoyable conversations then and in later life when we were often in touch, a very genuine person. Sincere condolences to all his family.
My deepest sympathies to Kate and all the family on the passing of your wonderful Father, Michael. May he rest in peace.
