The day is done. Mike’s “Parting Glass” at the cemetery said it all.
A good funeral sounds like a contradiction. But we all must say goodbye to loved ones that go before us. And our tradition is to celebrate the good and the great of our departed.
This was done to perfection today for Mike. All his family gave him an amazing send-off; his loving wife Nuala, his daughters, sons-in-law and a large team of grandchildren, family and so many friends; and finally “resting under a tree beside a path” as he wished.
His character was described to perfection. All the eulogies, all the prayers and all the stories showed that so many people’s hearts and attention were captured by his caring personality. He listened. And his family did him proud today.
His honesty and integrity, his open mind but most of all, his “analyzing this”, was his compassion and consideration for all who came into his life.
He will always have a special place in so many hearts.
His friendship was an lifetime honour and never to be forgotten.
“Goodnight and joy be with you all”!
