Dear Sheila,

I am very sorry to hear of your mother's death. Please accept my condolences to you and all your family.

It was a privilege to have known Nuala, first as a highly motivated mature student and later as a valued colleague in UCD Mathematics. Amongst her many talents, it was Nuala's formidable organizational skill that built the UCD Mathematics Support Centre from small beginnings into a model for such centres everywhere. Many many students, including my own sons, have benefitted from that work and are grateful for it.

May she rest in peace.

To all Curley children of Nuala and Colm,
I’ve just learned of this very sad news of the loss of your lovely Mum. She was always unfailingly kind and welcoming to me, as I know she was to so many, as was your dad Colm too. Not that it stopped her from being brutally honest, when that was just what a situation required - but with that brutal honesty always still embedded in kindness and wisdom nonetheless - and who could help but admire her all the more for that?
Thank you for sharing your Mum with your wilder world, and for all the gifts that has yielded in the meantime… her words still come flooding back to me, every now and then, when challenging times present themselves!
Wishing you as easy an adjustment to a world without her as possible, and keeping you all in my thoughts.
Gillian

Nuala taught me in UCD in the maths support centre at a time when I was struggling with some of my degree subjects. She was one of the kindest and most supportive teachers I have known and one of the main reasons that I did well in my degree. She had a rare gift and I’ll always remember her as a bright and positive person to meet around UCD. My condolences to her family and wide group of friends. Rest in peace Nuala.

Nuala was one of the first colleagues I interacted with when I came to UCD as a lecturer in 2010. I remember Nuala for her energy and enthusiasm and her dedication to the students, during her time as director of the Maths Support Centre. In her "retirement" she went on to complete a PhD in Mathematics Education in UCD. She will be sadly missed in the School of Mathematics and Statistics in UCD.

Dear Donnacha, Anna, Cliona, Sheila, Aisling, Colm,Gavin; Karen and all partners and families; and extended family.
We (Keith, Dylan, Isabel and I) are so sad to hear of Nuala's unexpected death.
A wonderful lady who pulled up her sleeves and helped out whenever required or she felt she could.
I have fond memories of her over the years, in particular helping out in the big restoration project at Grove house, and most recently spending 3+ hours with her on a journey from Dublin to Westport chatting about the family, travel, cycling, politics, the economy, the weather - you name it. There wasn't a quiet moment!
A fabulous woman who will no doubt be missed by all who knew her.
