Dear Helen,
I want to extend my heartfelt condolences to you during this difficult time. Paddy has been a cherished part of our lives for many years, starting from occasion of my wedding where he played. I fondly remember the great nights we had at the Burlington Hotel for Fianna Fáil and the Harcourt Hotel.
Paddy had a special place in our hearts, especially when he performed at my mother’s 60th birthday. His music brought us together and created lasting memories. I will always remember the poignant moment when he honored my late father Pats memory by playing alongside Eamonn at the funeral in 2007.
Helen, Paddy was truly a wonderful man, and his love for you and his family was evident to all who knew him. Please know that you are in my thoughts, and I am here for you in any way you need.
With deepest sympathy,
— Priscilla, Ann, Ainie Grainger, Leitrim Lodge, Ashtown,Dubli

I see people describing themselves as a fan but i was, in addition to that ,also a patient of Paddys. My own Dad had passed a day or 2 before ,i told noone,we were on a trip in Arusha in Africa in 2007 and for the 2 weeks i knew him ,he greatly helped me stay going ,he took me on as a broken wing project once he had heard about my week....I have a few pics of 2 of us playing our hearts out with the likes of the Sultans of Swing and singing and laughing as we did for the week or 2 and despite basic living and scary sanitary services he would'nt complain ,so down to earth,v mindfull of the people we were there to try to help out .None of them knew that only one of us was a legend back at home though !! .He thought me to never start a song before deciding on how it will go first ,and how it should end as only true professionals do.Ill forever remember his kindness and admire him so,these are the true treasures that only few leave after them.
Rest in peace Dr Cole....Those close to you may never know all the magic moments you gave to your many patients .

My condolences to Paddy's wife Helen and family; also to his sisters Mae, Carmel, Lucia and Betty on the sad loss of Paddy. Remembering his late parents and sisters Sadie and Jacinta at this time too.

Although having grown up in Blayney in the 50s, I only actually met Paddy on one occasion about 6 years ago. I saw him striding across the large empty square beside the 3 Arena/Point Depot and went over to him saying: "You don't know me, but I'm from Blayney". He took a half step back and gazed down at me for a few seconds with his big friendly smile before replying: "Well you're definitely a Mooney. Are you the lad in Wexford?" He was thinking of my brother Seamus, even though I have since re-located to that county.

That brief encounter - he was on his way to do a radio interview about the recent passing of his friend Brendan Grace - showed that he always stayed connected to his roots. He was proud of Blayney and we were always proud of him. Rest in peace, Paddy.
