I met Paddy in the late 90’s through competition model aerobatics flying. Paddy was the king of the Masters aerobatics class. Any up and coming pilot knew they had to pass Paddy before they could go any further. Paddy was a fierce competitor who loved nothing more than the fun of beating you by a point in the last round of a competition.

This level of flying requires precision touch. Paddy was nervous flying in front of the judges and is hands would often shake so much that he would only intermittently touch the sticks on his transmitter. Somehow he would always pull it off and either win or push the competition to the last round. Thanks Paddy for pushing me. We will miss your child like enthusiasm and your love of RC Model Aerobatics. RIP. Shane Robinson EI2794 and Sinead Robinson.

My sympathies to all the Gavin family. I worked with Paddy on Line Maintenance and also had the pleasure of being in his company on some social occasions, most memorably skiing in Utah where he kept us entertained with his tin whistle and story telling. May he rest in peace.

So sorry to hear of the sudden loss of Paddy. I enjoyed much of my childhood in your home, and Paddy was always busy! He was either playing croquet, working on his planes, gardening or writing in his igloo. He was a great character and a lucky man to have such a lovely family. I can only imagine how much he'll be missed.
