Shocked and so sorry to hear of Paddy's passing. Paddy was a truly unique character. You felt better for being in his company and there was never a dull moment. His love of music [in particular Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Kris Kristofferson]. His talent as a mimic [especially of the first of that trio]. His intelligence, wit and integrity. And the love he had for Armagh GAA.

He was a gentle man in every sense. I first met him in Drumlish in August 2007. He was a good friend of my wife's family. The morning after getting married, another friend got word that his father had fallen ill and I was going to leave him to Dublin airport and then start the honeymoon. Paddy heard of this and told me to do the latter, he'd take care of the former and was as good as his word!

We met up in Newry for the last time in late June. Paddy had plans to head over for concerts in the autumn and we were going to meet up and see in the New Year in Carlingford like we did years ago.

In between there were memorable trips watching Armagh, All-Ireland semis and finals and Neil Young.

Deepest condolences to his sister and extended family.

My sincere condolences to Paddy’s sister Elizabeth and family.

I am so shocked to hear of his passing.

Fair well for now my friend. We had so very many enriching and healing conversations and adventures on the road, on the way to see poets, plays, musicians, Armagh matches and to dance at weddings.
You were a good man and a man of intelligence, depth, conviction and a passion for life.

“The breeze at dawn has secrets to tell you.
Don't go back to sleep”.
Jalaluddin Rumi

Rest in peace. You will be truly missed.

Love always,

Jeanette

Sincere sympathy to Elizabeth, all the McGinnity family and Paddys many friends at this sad time of great loss. It was years since I had met Paddy until only a short time ago we met at Roddy Crehans funeral, another great character from the class of 89. It was a real pleasure to catch up with Paddy & some of his wonderful stories about The Vet college Panto and his outings with Roddy. On Saturday, I thought of him as his beloved Armagh had beaten my native Kerry! I am shocked to now hear that he had passed away unexpectedly, but can only now surmise that Paddy worked his magic to make that deserved victory happen. May Paddy rest in peace. Nì bheidh a leithead arìs ann, tàim cinnte!
— Mary Courtney, Vet college class of 1990.

My deepest sympathy to the McGinnity on the passing of our Paddy. I was truly shocked to hear news of his untimely passing.

I first met Paddy on a bus trip from London to Cologne in 1994 to see Bob. We got on straight away and after that we stayed in touch, always meeting up whenever there was a Dylan concert. He sent me a Christmas card every year since 1994 (always late but never failed to arrive !!).

It's hard to believe that in the week of his passing his beloved Armagh have made it to the All Ireland final and Bob has announced dates for Albert Hall. Both of this would have thrilled him greatly.

Paddy was wonderful company, so full of interesting chat. In 2003 made a car trip from my home in Wicklow to Mill Street in Cork to see Bob only to find out the we arrived that Bob was sick. So, the show was cancelled and we had to travel home the next day. We had chat and hilarious stories the whole way down and back, a most memorable trip with no Bob show !!

Paddy was certainly unique. He was kind, funny, intelligent, a great mimic and a wonderful storyteller. It will be so strange to go to the next Bob show and to not be able to catch up with him at it.

RIP Paddy, may your song always be sung.

Deepest sympathy to the McGinnity family on Paddy’s untimely death.
To say Paddy was kind is a gross understatement. To say he was generous wouldn’t even go near the measure of the man. Paddy McGinnity was unique. He had a huge heart, full of compassion and exuded dignity. His currency was kind-heartedness and benevolence.
He was a music lover with a searching spirit. He especially loved Dylan’s music. It sparked something deep inside his soul. Where once we all enjoyed the nightly changing Dylan setlists we now enjoy discussing the changing tone and phrasing of certain lines in an almost regular setlist. Paddy was a master during these discussions, especially when he mimicked Dylan’s pose and ‘upsinging’. He was sharp, funny, witty and clever, often referring to ‘filler’ songs as ‘chicken feed’! He loved to laugh.
May the good Lord bring to fruition all the love we have experienced from Paddy. May his gentle soul be at peace agus leaba i measc na naomh go raibh aige. Ní bheidh a leithead ann arís.
May he build a ladder to the stars
Climb on every rung
And may he stay
Forever Young.

Deepest sympathy to all on the untimely passing of Patrick.
Only met Patrick a few times, and only a few words each time (usually at the exit door at a bob gig) but they were enough for me to know straight away that here is a true gentleman, and his passion for music, and indeed whatever we talked about in those few moments was always a treat for me, delighted to have met you.
Rest in peace your gentle soul.
